We are very pleased to have won the competition for the structural timber design of the new Monfalcone School Campus; a new complex built with timber structures.
It consists of a block of 4 buildings including the buildings for the high schools, the shared gymnasium and the connecting gallery.
structural timber design concept
We proposed CLT and glulam timber structural design for the new buildings during the tender phase.
The building complex is located in an area with high seismicity and therefore we decided to employ a hybrid system composed of reinforced concrete bracing cores, glulam timber columns and CLT floors.
The choice of the hybrid timber-concrete structural system stems from the desire to employ a solution that would be as sustainable as possible. The use of concrete is optimized in the bracing cores while timber works well both for transferring vertical loads and for the construction of floors.
It is an interesting structural solution that we have already used in the following projects:
We look forward to starting the design!
See you soon for updates.
