The construction of two houses made of CLT wood in the province of Verona is now complete.
The project involved the construction of two distinct residential units connected by a linking canopy.
The two units cover a total floor area of approximately 540 sqm and both consist of two floors.
The vertical load-bearing structure is made of CLT panels, while the floors are made of glulam; steel beams were required in the main rooms to reduce the floor span.
Appropriate cavities were created for the building systems, and all internal walls will be constructed with double-layer plasterboard and fiberboard.
Fornale Engineering also handled the design of the foundation works, which are of the raft foundation type with perimeter walls corresponding to the load-bearing walls; a ventilated crawl space is provided within the thickness of the walls.
Assignment: Executive design of CLT structures and foundation structures
