Yesterday, the wood and straw building we designed in 2019-2020 received a special mention for “the use of wood and straw in a modern prefabrication process” on the occasion of the 10th year of ARCA – Quality and Sustainability Certification.
It was a major challenge to combine the need to build with wood and straw in an off-site production system that would ensure high seismic/thermal performance.
The interior and exterior finishes are in local clay on reed mesh.
This building is a good reference point for those who want to build by combining #circulareconomy with environmental sustainability.
