Fornale Engineering has been awarded, in a temporary partnership with Settanta7 and Stain srl, the contract for the design of the new Faculty of Engineering-Innovation Hub in Padua.
Fornale Engineering will handle the structural design of the entire building.
It will be a 4-story building of approximately 2,000 sqm per floor that will accommodate 3,000 students.
Except for the reinforced concrete foundation slab, the entire building will be designed with load-bearing timber structures, making extensive use of glulam for beams and columns and CLT for shear walls and floors.
The bracing walls will be constructed with CLT panels of variable thickness on each floor for a total height of 19.5 m.
The floors, spanning nearly 12 meters, will be designed as CLT-glulam-CLT box-type systems to reduce the structural thickness of the floors.
The facade system will be prefabricated timber with a non-load-bearing frame structure.
The total project cost is estimated at approximately €18.5M.
It will be an exciting challenge! Stay connected.
