Steel and wood transform an old workshop into a beautiful B&B

, ,

Fornale Engineering designed the structures for this beautiful project by Arfellini architecture studio, just steps from the center of Verona.

An old mechanical workshop was transformed into a B&B with an attached architecture studio.

The structural intervention included the construction of a new foundation slab from which two steel frames rise, creating 2 internal courtyards overlooked by the rooms and receiving light from openings made in the timber roof slab.

The internal partitions were constructed using aerated concrete blocks, while the floors, for both aesthetic and ceiling height requirements, were built with flat laminated timber panels—panels made by gluing individual solid elements at full height. This choice made it possible to use a floor approximately 2 cm thinner than a CLT timber floor.

An excellent space conversion project.
