PROJECT SUMMARY
The project involves the construction of a CLT timber residence within a campground on Lake Garda.
The residence is developed over 2 floors with a floor area of approximately 350 m² per floor.
The structure consists of 14 mini apartments with a living area, kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom.

STRUCTURAL MODEL
Despite being a project of limited dimensions, it presents structural peculiarities that required more detailed modeling.
The walls of the second floor are offset from those below and must be anchored directly to the floor slab.
This connection generates tensile and compressive forces in the CLT floor slabs that must be adequately transferred to the walls below.
Forces are transferred through floor-to-floor connections and hold-downs.
We modeled a portion of the structure (structurally replicable) incorporating all connections and their respective stiffnesses to evaluate in detail the forces generated during seismic events.
A parametric model was generated in which we were able to calibrate the stiffnesses of the connections based on the desired deformations.

MATERIALS USED
The structure is built using CLT wood panels.
The walls are made with 100 mm thick, 3-layer CLT panels, while for the floors 180 mm thick, 5-layer slabs were used at the intermediate level and 140 mm, 5-layer slabs for the roof.
Due to logistical requirements, it was necessary to use panels with a width of 125 cm, resulting in an increase in connection lines.
In this project we chose to use panel-to-panel joints with milling on one side and nailed OSB joining panels.

PROFESSIONAL ASSIGNMENT
For this project, our scope of work included:
- thermal-physical analysis and definition of special contract specifications;
- cost-benefit analysis of economic offers;
- detailed structural design.
