BUILDING DESCRIPTION
Fornale Engineering srl was responsible for the structural and DfMA construction design of this new multi-story CLT wood building in the province of Trento.
The building has a ground floor footprint of approximately 400 sqm and spans 2-3 floors.
It features large terraces and perimeter overhangs exceeding 2 meters.
The requirement for these overhangs necessitated the use of integrated steel structures.
A facade system, separate from the larch wood structure, is present along the elevations.

STRUCTURAL SCHEME
The building is designed with seismic-resistant vertical walls made of 140 mm thick XLAM wood.
The floor slabs are constructed with 180 mm thick XLAM wood panels.
Steel profiles are utilized as part of the non-load-bearing walls and are therefore not seismic-resistant.
The roof structures are gable-type, constructed with glulam beams of various sections.

SERVICES PROVIDED
Fornale Engineering handled the executive structural design of:
- glulam and XLAM/CLT works;
- steel structures.
The DfMA construction design was carried out for:
- timber structures using HSBCAD software and production processing of CLT panels and glulam beams;
- production of .bvn files for CNC cutting centers;
- shop drawings for steel beams/plates;
- hardware bill of materials;
- assembly plans

MATERIALS USED
The following were used for the construction of this building:
- 335 m³ of CLT:
- 57 m³ of GLT glulam;
- 56,032 nails;
- 16,591 screws.
