BUILDING DESCRIPTION
Studifornale.it handled the structural design of this private CLT timber house located in the hills of Loiano – Bologna.
The architectural design, undoubtedly striking and minimalist in impact, was developed by the Bologna-based architecture firm LADO.
The building consists of two blocks, one serving as a residence and the other as a functional space, separated by a “tangent” canopy.
The building, entirely constructed using CLT timber and glulam, is developed over 2 levels and is characterized by a steeply pitched roof.
The skillful use of openings and the study of natural lighting make the building interesting and welcoming.

STRUCTURAL SCHEME
The building is situated on the slope of an area with poor mechanical properties of the soil.
The foundation works were designed using concrete piles approximately 7m deep, on which a reinforced concrete slab was constructed.
Concrete curbs were used to prepare for the installation of the CLT walls.
The superstructure is constructed with load-bearing CLT timber walls for both blocks of the building.
The floors are constructed with glulam beams and overlying bracing planking.
