PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fornale Engineering was commissioned to develop the structural and construction design of a villa with CLT wood structures in the province of Bergamo.
The building spans two floors above ground, with an additional basement level used as a garage with a tavern and utility rooms.
The above-ground section features a large double-height room providing access to the upper floor via an open staircase with a gallery.
The upper floor contains the master bedroom with a walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom, and a private terrace.

FOUNDATION STRUCTURES
The foundation structures and the basement of the villa were designed with reinforced concrete structures.
The foundation structures consist of inverted beams from which the reinforced concrete elevation walls of the basement area, measuring approximately 150 sqm, extend.
The intermediate floor slab was constructed using Predalles slabs with raised curbs on the extrados for the installation of the CLT walls.

CLT WOOD STRUCTURES
The elevation structures are made of 3-layer CLT wood panels with a thickness of 100 mm.
The intermediate floor slab is made of 180 mm thick CLT panels.
Due to the building’s geometry, we had to design a fixed steel frame to ensure seismic requirements.
The roof slab consists of a flat upper section and two sloping sections at a lower level.
All roof slabs are constructed with glulam beams.
