PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project involved the extension of the elementary/middle school in Pastrengo, in the province of Verona.
Four new classrooms were built across two floors as an extension to the existing building.
Fornale Engineering was responsible for the structural design of the vertical and horizontal CLT (cross-laminated timber) structures.
The structures were designed to achieve an R90 fire resistance rating.

XLAM PANEL DESIGN
7-layer CLT floor panels with a thickness of 280 mm were designed.
Vibration testing requirements were particularly stringent.
Glulam edge beams were provided to close the window and door frame lines.
The structures and related plates were designed to achieve an R90 fire resistance rating.

Both vertical and floor structures were designed using specific CAD/CAM software.
The work was completed in just 5 days, significantly shortening the overall project timeline.

Assignment
Executive design of CLT wood structures, development of CAD/CAM shop drawings
