Fornale Engineering handled the structural design of this timber frame house located in the Valpolicella hills.
It is a residential unit of approximately 80 sqm in floor plan with an upper-level mezzanine, built using the platform frame system.
The photos show the early stages of the structure’s construction, which was braced with a single OSB panel (formaldehyde class E1) placed on the exterior side.
The space between the studs was subsequently filled with insulating material and finished on the interior side with a double layer of plasterboard.
A windproof membrane was applied to the exterior, followed by 12 cm of wood fiber external insulation with a thin-coat plaster finish.
The roof slab and the mezzanine were constructed using glulam.
