Fornale Engineering has been commissioned for the structural design of the new timber middle and elementary school with a civic center.
Fornale Engineering will handle the structural design of the entire timber building on reinforced concrete foundation structures.
It will be a 3-story building covering a total of approximately 3,000 m².
The ground floor, approximately 1,400 m², will house the auditorium with a capacity of about 300 people over 450 m², and the nursery school classrooms.
The two upper floors, approximately 800 m² each, will contain the classrooms and spaces for the middle school.
Except for the reinforced concrete foundation slab, the entire building will be designed with timber load-bearing structures, making extensive use of glulam for beams and columns and CLT for shear walls.
The total cost for the project is estimated at approximately €3.3M.
It will be a great challenge! Stay tuned.
