Work is progressing rapidly on the construction of the nursery school in the province of Verona, built entirely of timber.
Fornale Engineering, in a joint venture with Studiosettanta and Alvit srl, was awarded the integrated contract for the executive design and construction of the project.
The engineering firm Fornale Engineering handled the structural design of the project, including both the foundation work and the CLT superstructures and glulam enclosures.
The superstructures are made of CLT panels, as is the exposed floor of the atrium, while the remaining floors are traditional glulam with double-crossed planking.
A structural feature of the project is the soon-to-be-completed “chimney-corridor” which, at 6.5 meters high, connects the classroom block to the canteen, ensuring natural lighting and ventilation.
The structure was designed to ensure the R60 fire resistance requirement.
Assignment: Executive design of timber structures, executive design of foundations
