Fornale Engineering has been awarded the contract for the detailed and executive structural design of the new Rachetti Classical High School in Cremona.

The complex comprises 4 main volumes of 2 floors each, with a total floor area of approximately 9,200 m².

In addition to spaces dedicated to teaching and laboratories, a gymnasium of approximately 700 m² is included within the volumes.

The foundation structures will be of the raft type, from which the first and second floor elevations in CLT panels will rise.

The floors are designed with a system of glulam beams and CLT slabs.

We estimate a total use of approximately 2,400 m³ of CLT and 650 m³ of glulam.

We are proud to have been awarded the contract and to be working on the design of this important project in a temporary joint venture with our colleagues at Holzner&Bertagnolli.

This represents a major challenge for us and for the public administration that has committed to the realization of this project using timber structures.

A concrete commitment that moves in the precise direction of reducing CO2 emissions associated with the use and production of construction materials.

The use of load-bearing timber structures will result in a reduction in CO2 emissions that we estimate to be approximately 3,000 tons of CO2.
