Fornale Engineering designed the structures for a new CLT wood villa with a glulam roof in Mariano Comense.
BRIEF PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The villa is single-story and features a rectangular floor plan of approximately 220 sqm.
The roof is a gable type, except for the external eaves which are designed as flat roofs.
CLT WOOD LOAD-BEARING STRUCTURES
The load-bearing elevation structures are made of 100 mm thick 3-layer CLT wood panels.
The roof structure is made of glulam and consists of a main framework of ridges, hips, and valleys supported internally by steel pillars, while along the perimeter, they are anchored to the wall plates.
The secondary beams are fixed to the main ones using pairs of full-thread screws crossed at 45 degrees.
The roof eaves are flat and were constructed using CLT wood panels supported by a steel frame.
