CLT museum

Fornale Engineering, together with the Bianchini&Lusiardi architecture firm, was awarded first prize in the 2-phase International Competition: In front of Villa Emma: A place for the memory of the Jewish children of Nonantola.

Following the award, we worked on the preparation of the feasibility study and are now about to begin the definitive/executive design phase.

The museum will cover an area of approximately 1,000 sq m with an internal height of 4.1 m.

We have planned a raft-type foundation from which elevated reinforced concrete curbs will emerge for the subsequent installation of the CLT walls.

The CLT walls will be 120 mm thick with 5 layers.

The roof slab, with two 12 m spans, will be a coffered type.

We planned to insert the necessary insulation for the slab into the “coffer” to allow for the fastest possible installation of the structures and to reduce construction times.

Substantial perimeter eaves will be included, to be made of glass on a sub-structure designed with steel profiles.

PROFESSIONAL ASSIGNMENT

  • structural design of reinforced concrete foundation works;
  • structural design of CLT walls and glulam coffered slabs;
  • R60 fire protection design of the structures.
